FCS Express is a suite of flow cytometry analysis tools developed by De Novo Software to enable biological research professionals to generate rapid data results in various custom outputs layouts.
FCS Express, available for both PC and MacOS, has a familiar Microsoft Office interface for cytometry data analysis, which allows the user to analyse their data as if they are creating a PowerPoint presentation. It has drag and drop capability throughout including for moving data files from the data list to create new plots and applying gates to plots.
FCS Express is completely customizable to give each data set a new look. It can be completely automated to integrate into a lab’s daily workflow. The new program also has a publishing feature, to share and encourage collaboration, where colleagues can open with data with FCS Express’ free reader. FCS express is compatible with native .CIF and .DAF files from Amnis and offers R integration. The user can use the SOP builder to build standardized templates.
The cluster analysis tool helps to group similar events within the data analysis while spreadsheets allow the user to perform Microsoft Excel-like functions that update as you change the gates and/or data files. Data specific gates allow the user to assign gates to specific data files in the analysis. Heat maps can represent multiple statistics through Overlays and a Dynamic Radius. Histogram markers can be linked together and analysis objects can be formatted with special permissions and authorizations.
Common statistics and tokens are available in FCS Express. The application also includes statistical functions that include Grubbs Test, F Test, Chi Square, T-Test. The statistics that can be displayed in CS Express include Percent of Gated (parent), Percent of Gated (grandparent), BD Robust Coefficient of variations (rCV), and BD Robust Standard Deviation (rSD). The user can format several features of the Statistics window in FCS Express. These include adding and removing columns, changing the look of fonts, modifying a gate so that it displays, rearranging columns, and showing statistics that are and are not calibrated.
FCS Express contains numerous other features, such as marker-to-gate-linking, file hearers, publication-quality graphics, linking quadrants, and exporting.

My other passions include grilling, wine tasting, and real food. To be honest, my biggest passion is flow cytometry, which is something that Carol and I share. My personal mission is to make flow cytometry education accessible, relevant, and fun. I’ve had a long history in the field starting all the way back in graduate school.
